Gender Equality

On Tuesday night, I went out to Mario’s Keller Bar in Minneapolis to hear Annie Wallick and a few other guys perform. (For those of you who have tried checking out her website and came up empty, she’s been in a constant struggle between maintaining the website and paying the rent—rent has been winning out so far.) Since it’s a bar and the show lasts a couple hours, I usually hit the water pretty hard and get a couple cups while I’m there, inevitably leading to a trip to the bathroom. Go figure. (more…)

Every child left behind

I know, the heading doesn’t sound like a good government program, but after tonight, I’m wondering if that’ll be the end result of George W’s “No Child Left Behind” plan to get the kids of America educated. (During a debate with John Kerry, he also called it a jobs plan, which makes this event all the more ironic.) (more…)

What do you do with your free time?

My uncle posed this question to me during dinner a couple days ago. I asked him whether he was keeping up with his drawing, a hobby he took up a few years back. He hadn’t done anything for a while, but I imagine that after I mentioned it, he started thinking about which drawer he might have left his pencil in. Of course, after I mentioned it, he asked what I was doing with my free time. I’m still not sure how much I could have told him. (more…)

I gotta go pee

To refresh, when that lady called from California on Tuesday to set up my phone interview, she said the questions would be “easy.”  I was never very good at Trivial Pursuit, so I figured I could have been in trouble.  Thankfully, I didn’t have to study any old math and English exams to prepare for the interrogation, mostly because it was an interrogation.
