Could you explain what went through your mind at the mansion door when you saw the seven Beauties coming out of their cars? (more…)

If you’re going to try as hard as you can to do something and “give it 110 percent”, who supplies the extra 10%?

Idiots recruiting geeks

God, this is sad. I got a call from a friend a few hours ago—she wanted me to jump in a car and drive down to Chicago tonight. (more…)

Penny War Special Ops

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

As a fundraiser for the United Way, the office is holding a “Penny War”. Everyone is split up into six groups and each group has a plastic container in the break room. You get one point for every penny you put into your own container and give negative points for putting any other kind of coin (or dollar) into another group’s container (five points for a nickel, ten for a dime, etc.). At the end of the week, the group that has the highest number of points (which will likely be the least negative points) wins… something. I’m really not sure and didn’t find out exactly what was going on until this afternoon. (more…)

Why grow up when you can just grow old?

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I was shuffling through a pile of paper at work and came upon some random fax machine cover sheet. To commemorate the last few hours before my 31st birthday, I spent about five minutes folding it into an airplane, wrote “RECYCLE ME!” on the wings, then tossed it over the wall and into the next cubicle. In 1842…

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue. At least according to an e-mail that I received on Monday, which was Columbus Day. (What a coincidence…) I opted to take a look back into history and discovered that the events of 1892 included:

March 17: Indians land in Ohio, a 12 mile area in Upper Sandusky
August 9: U.S.-Canada border defined by Webster-Ashburton Treaty
December 19: U.S. recognizes independence of Hawaii

If Columbus actually landed on U.S. soil that year, he was waaaaaay behind schedule.

S4, Episode 3: I’m too sexy for my… skin

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Everyone seems to be getting more comfortable with each other now, though Sam still sticks out like a sore thumb. He says the guys just “gotta do it” and he’s doing it more than the rest of them combined. There’s self-confidence and then there’s cocky—I can’t recall seeing any beauties being truly cocky before. I’m trying to put a finger on it… he’s a male beauty and he’s trying to put as much distance between him and the other guys as possible. I think before this point, there was always some degree of interaction between the beauties and the geeks. It wasn’t always harmonious—far from it—but it didn’t seem like anyone was trying to blow off so many people all at once. I don’t like it. Not at all. (more…)

Let’s see if I can whip out a quick two-fer so I’ll be ready to present a recap for Episode 4 (coming up tomorrow night on the CW!). Woo hoo! (more…)
