Everyone seems to be getting more comfortable with each other now, though Sam still sticks out like a sore thumb. He says the guys just “gotta do it” and he’s doing it more than the rest of them combined. There’s self-confidence and then there’s cocky—I can’t recall seeing any beauties being truly cocky before. I’m trying to put a finger on it… he’s a male beauty and he’s trying to put as much distance between him and the other guys as possible. I think before this point, there was always some degree of interaction between the beauties and the geeks. It wasn’t always harmonious—far from it—but it didn’t seem like anyone was trying to blow off so many people all at once. I don’t like it. Not at all. I know, I know, this review is really late, but it’s not my fault—this season is a pain in the butt. It’s not that I haven’t found the time to watch the tapes, though that certainly hasn’t helped, but there are way too many contestants on the show this season. 10, count ’em, 10 couples in the mansion. It makes for a little more drama and several more episodes (and shitloads more money for Ashton Kutcher and friends), so whaddya gonna do? It’s called “going on a trip to the cabin with my family and praying that the VCR will record properly on Thursday evening.” Said snag will also delay the Episode 1 review, but given that I’ll be at the cabin, it’s quite possible that you’ll be stressing out about it a lot more than me.
